SUMMARY:21st Seneca Waterways Challenge Trophy Camporee (CTC)
DESCRIPTION:We are scheduling approx. 725 events and/or displays. \nThe program consists of patrol teamwork challenge events\, educational\, sports\,crafts\, scouting and just plain ol’ fun events.  There is a full weekend of activities for the youth.  We challenge the patrols to do the best they can at every team building event\, then after they complete it\, to discuss what they can do to improve the next time.  How can they do it better\, faster\, etc? \nMost of the educational events are designed to teach the scouts.  Testing their knowledge is one thing.  We challenge them to learn and teach younger scouts.  Most of the fun events are character builders.  Each has a goal to achieve\, a challenge for the youth to meet to complete the event.  Many of the team building events are also considered fun events. \nAlso: Loads of patch trading! \nIf you are already a troop member\, register for the event here.

SUMMARY:Orienteering Challenge Campout
DESCRIPTION:Orienteering is an international sport that consists of finding control markers in the field from locations marked on a map. This year’s competition will start in the main camp area by the dining hall. Each team gets a new 5-color map 20 minutes before the race starts. There are many flags/markers marked on the map and you must find all you can during the allot time. Some flags are very easy to find and some are hard. Each flag is worth 5\, 10\, 15\, 20\, or 30 points\, depending on how hard it is to find. Plan your strategy to find the most flags and maximize your score!! The Orange & White control markers in the field are identified with a number to let you know if you have found the right flag. To prove you found the marker you punch the score card with a pin punch that is attached to each marker. Each pin punch has a different pattern. Orienteering is a team event! \nYour team needs a compass and a watch or stopwatch so you’ll finish on time. Participants should bring full canteens or water bottles\, and cups for drinking water at water stops. In order to help control litter\, no cups are provided at the water stops. The sections of camp we use for orienteering have some areas of thick vegetation and can be very steep at time.
